The biggest / largest airport in the world is Al Maktoum International Airport located in Dubai. After years of construction, airport was opened on 27 June 2010 and in February 23, 2011 the Civil Aviation Authority issued certificate granting to serve air transport not only cargo, but passengers as well. Costs of the project of the largest airport in the world is $33 billion. The area of Al Maktoum (airport named by the ruling family of Dubai) is 140 square kilometers along with the target capacity of 14 million tons of cargo and 160 million people a year. Dubai airport control tower has become the largest in the Middle East, the height is 92 meters. Project “The largest / biggest airport in the world” has six runways within a length of 4, 5 kilometers and designed in a such way that might serve the latest modern aircrafts such as Airbus A380 which is the largest passenger aircraft in the world.

In addition to the infrastructure, 3 terminals for passengers and 16 terminals for cargo will be build in Al Maktoum Airport as a part of Dubai World Central Airport. Modern shopping center, three luxury hotels, two-storey villas and luxury apartments in 24 storey buildings will be build. The complex is located in Jebel Ali which is 40 kilometers from Dubai International airport, near the sea port (the biggest one in the Middle East).
