Great news for tourists: the agreement on the cancellation of visa requirements between the UAE and the Russian Federation is finally taking effect! On February 2019, new rules for tourists from Russia and the United Arab Emirates come into force. According to them, the citizens of one country can stay on the territory of another country without a visa for 90 days. The agreement on mutual cancellation of visa requirements was signed by the leaders of these countries on July 6, 2018, and now it’s time to implement it.
According to the document, any citizen of the Russian Federation and the United Arab Emirates with a valid passport of their own country (as long as this document remains valid within the next six months) can visit another country for up to 90 days without having to obtain a visa. We recall that previously, another rule of issuing an entry visa to the UAE has been in action – "visa on arrival." This rule has been in effect since 2017, when Decree 24 of 2017 was signed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice President, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Governor of Dubai).
These new rules are intended to simplify the process of entering the country for the citizens and are aimed at increasing the flow of tourists to these countries.
The citizens of one country will be able to stay in another one for up to 90 days during each period of 180 days, thus, it is possible to legally stay in another country for up to 180 days in total during a year.
