The UAE in general and Dubai, in particular, justify their status as one of the safest places in the world for living and tourism.
Thus, according to the authorities of the Emirate, for the first half of this year, local taxi drivers have found over 7,400 lost valuable items, including documents, mobile phones, and even jewelry, gold bars, and cash. Over 70% of all findings have already been returned to their owners.
The executive director of the local carrier, DTC, Yousef Al Ali, noted that the total amount of cash that taxi drivers returned to owners in the first six months of this year is about 640 thousand dirhams, and the largest amount returned to one passenger exceeded 165 thousand dirhams (45 000 dollars).
The DTC corporation employs 12,000 taxi drivers, and they have a special scheme for rewarding honest employees who return the finds, but still, passengers should be more attentive to their property.
