Despite the economic crisis, the number of visitors in UAE’s shopping centers continues to rise over the years. One of the world’s biggest shopping centers, the Dubai Mall has increased the footfall by 27% comparing to previous and hosted over 47 million visitors this year. Overall retail and shopping sales accounted for $ 517 million this year. Another biggest shopping center in the Middle East, The Mall of Emirates has raised the amount of visitors up to 31 million people from the beginning of this year.
Whilst, referring to the latest news of shop closures in the United Kingdom, the retail chain shut about 30 stores a day this year. The total of 953 stores closed within the first six months of this year, comparing to 174 of the previous year. Over 500 city centers with big retail chains have faced relatively long leases with inflexible terms. The hardest hit was on toy shops, clothes shops, computer games stores, jewelers and furniture stores.
